Body armour absorbs energy from an impact, helping to prevent damage to critical areas such as the back, shoulders, elbows and knees.
Some of the body armour we offer is designed to fit into the internal pockets provided by most jackets, trousers and leather suits. These items are intended as replacements or upgrades. You can also choose to do away with the standard pre-installed back protector and wear a body-fitted model with over the shoulder straps instead. These are usually the most protective. Some of the more advanced back protectors also provide a certain amount of protection to internal organs such as the kidneys, liver and spleen, which can all be harmed by a heavy external blow.
It’s important that a back protector is the correct size for you. If it is too small, it won’t protect the vulnerable lumbar region of the lower back and if it is too big, it won’t fit comfortably under your riding gear. If you need any sizing advice please feel free to contact us for expert advice.
