Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jackets
High quality leather motorcycle jackets provide excellent resistance to abrasion. No other material quite matches leather in this respect, although modern textiles like Cordura do come pretty close. This is why leather is still the material of choice for suits used by motorcycle racers. Leather also has the advantage of being very long lasting if cared for properly – a good leather motorcycle jacket can still look great after many years.
The most commonly used leather in jackets is cowhide. The quality of the grain and finished thickness varies depending on how leather is processed. Our jackets are made using only high quality grains and typical thicknesses are in the region of 1.2 to 1.4mm, which is optimum for performance and comfort.
Leather is not waterproof, so while it can keep you dry for a short while, rain is likely to soak through eventually. Leather jackets are not generally as warm as textile jackets either – although most do have thermal liners and this certainly helps.
There are many different styles available – including retro, custom and sports. Most feature CE approved elbow protection and many also include shoulder and back protectors. Some brands use responsive D30 armour in their best leather sports jackets. External hard plastic armour on the shoulders or elbows can be an added advantage, as can comfort stretch fabric in key areas such as the inside of the arms.
