Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jackets

Motorcycle clothing is all CE approved to standard EN17092 with ratings of AAA, AA or A rating. All Jackets are required to have CE approved protectors in the elbows and shoulders for all ratings. Various tests are performed to achieve a pass or above but to determine which class a garment falls into comes down to the impact abrasion resistance, seam strength and tear strength. A garment will have to achieve a rating of AAA in all these tests to be awarded an overall rating of AAA.

High quality motorcycle leather jackets provide excellent resistance to abrasion. No other material quite matches leather in this respect, although modern textiles are very protective. Leather is still the material used for suits by motorcycle racers. Leather also has the advantage of being very long lasting if cared for properly – a good leather motorcycle jacket can still look great after many years.

The most commonly used leather in jackets is cowhide. The quality of the grain and finished thickness varies depending on how leather is processed. Our jackets are made using only high quality grains and typical thicknesses are in the region of 1.2 to 1.4mm, which is optimum for performance and comfort.

Leather is not waterproof, so while it can keep you dry for a short while, rain is likely to soak through eventually. Leather jackets are not generally as warm as textile jackets either – although most do have thermal liners and this certainly helps.

There are many different styles available – including retro, custom and sports. All jackets have CE approved level 1 or level 2 elbow and shoulder protection as standard and some also include a back protector or if not, then a back protector pocket so one can be fitted.
